Hello Everyone, This weekend was a chance to meet my congressman. He is in campaign mode, and has a double digit lead in all the polls here. There was an event with a $70 entrance fee (donation) for anyone to go and socialize with a few local canditates, as well as our US Congressman. I went to the event, and had a great time. It was laid back, casual in nature, and a great place to chat with him, and others. ( I gave a much larger contribution to his campaign than just $70...but not some crazy amount...but a decent donation that he will appreciate). I gave him a business card, and explained to him what was going on. His question was simple: What can I do for you specifically? I was prepared with a good, simple answer to him. I told him that these pre-payment audits need to STOP now! They need to do pre-determinations instead of pre-payment audits. After explaining to him how many people in this field have explained the financial hardships being placed on these businesses, he knows that is NOT acceptable at all. I also told him that CMS needs to be restricted on how often they can change policies, and not doing this on a daily basis like they seem to be doing. They need to communicate and educate us better on THEIR policies. These 863 emails I have gotten over the past year are crazy, and impossible to go through every one (and some had dead links to the emails to boot). He agreed 100% with me. He promised that he would go back and fight to change this. He encourage me to get active, and the MORE people that reach out to their congressmen, the more likely we can see a change happen. We need to generate letters to all congressmen, including a growing list in these letters of other congressmen who have been contacted so that everyone will know who else is aware. My son wanted to donate his allowance money to help Todd Young (R) get re-elected, and so my 10 year old went up to him and gave him a $20 bill and said he wanted to donate his allowance. It brought tears to this man's eyes...seriously. He was SO touched that even a kid as old as 10 can understand what this nation is faced with, and what we need to do to get things fixed in DC (if that is even possible), especially regarding Medicare and their rules. He promised that he will get back to DC, and he will get to work, and make this nation a better place for my son. He promised to help with this Medicare mess. Imagine what can happen if MORE congressmen were contacted like this, and educated on prosthetics/orthotics. We all must get engaged now. Thanks Jim DeWees, CP
