I am working with a patient that has a true wrist disarticulation
amputation. I am at the stage of the diagnostic fitting with the wrist,
hand, harness and cabling all put together. However, the prosthesis is just
too long with all of the components. I have tried calling around to find
the shortest build height wrist and hand, but have not found anything that
prevents the final prosthesis from being so long.
What wrists and hands have people utilized for a body powered wrist
disarticulation prosthesis? Also, what length have you accepted as the
difference between the prosthetic arm and contralateral arm and had the
patient accept the difference?
I appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
DeAnna
