Dear List-
I have recently received a bill for more than $500 to renew
my Medicaid accreditation. My question is are there any good reasons to continue
my Medicaid accreditation in Texas. As of January 2012 Medicaid no longer pays
Medicare co-insurance and annual deductibles for those with QMB or MQMB Medicaid
unless the amount Medicare actually paid (ie- payment after annual deductible
and co-insurance) is less than Medicaid allowance for the same service – which
it almost never is! In addition, any children in a Medicaid PPO can only be paid
if a facility is individually contracted with that PPO. I don’t think I will
ever be reimbursed even enough to cover the cost of renewing my
accreditation.
