attendees the opportunity to ask questions about Medicare policy. CGS
Provider Outreach representative, Zita Upchurch, has a rich history of
very high attendee satisfaction and this year’s goal will be no
different. Presentations will include a variety of policies, recent
Medicare changes, proper documentation concepts, and much more.
Documentation Requirements-we will dig deeper than
the requirements outlined in Chapter 3 of the Jurisdiction C Supplier
Manual, including applicable references from the Internet Only Manuals
(IOMs) and discuss how those references apply to equipment throughout
the O&P categories. Zita will provide actual documents produced to
CGS during the claim submission process for review. A discussion will
focus on right and wrong procedures for documentation as well as a
discussion of an appropriate intake process.
Medicare Audit Overview and Medicare Updates- this
program will provide in-depth information pertaining to audits, the
agencies doing the audits and how to respond, focusing on policies
specific to O&P.
Lower Limb Prosthetics Audit Findings- Various
auditing contractors; a breakdown of the agencies findings and how this
affects you and your claims. What you need to know.
Lower Limb Prosthetics Audit Preparing- the
discussion will focus on specific audits that have taken place and what
the findings have been. Documentation will be provided to show actual
cases that were denied with a discussion of what needs to take place to
prepare the claim for the appeals process. Discussions will take place
regarding coding guidelines, coding requirements and changes coming to
the industry.
AFO/KAFO/Knees- Overview of requirements for documentation and coding guidelines.
Therapeutic Shoes for the Diabetic-An overview of
requirements for the diabetic shoe LCD will be provided. The program
will focus on coding guidelines and the documentation required; putting
elements together to satisfy auditing contractor’s requirements.
Breast Prosthesis- Overview of LCD with regard to
ABNs and current allowable upgrades. The presentation will include an
overview of the CERT findings and how to prevent initial errors.
Biography-
CGS provides a variety of services for Medicare beneficiaries, health
care providers and medical equipment suppliers in 33 states supporting
the needs of over 16 million Medicare beneficiaries nationwide. As a
Durable Medical Equipment (DME) contractor with Medicare our goal is to
efficiently process claims from DME suppliers operating in the states of
Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi,
New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico,
Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and the U. S. Virgin Islands.
As one of the 1,000 employees with CGS Administrators, Zita Upchurch
works with Medicare suppliers throughout the jurisdiction and state
associations sharing her knowledge of O&P combined with program
billing and documentation requirements. Since her arrival, CGS has been a
leader among the DME MAC contractors in O&P education,
participation in state association meetings and interest in O&P
issues. Prior to joining the CGS team in 2009, Zita spent 20 years in
the orthotic and prosthetic industry, a passion she shares with O&P
Medicare providers now.
Zita will be the lead representative for the “New Orthotic and
Prosthetic Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group”. With the
increased focus by CMS, the OIG, CERT, and the DME MACs on O&P, Zita
understood the need for a group to provide feedback to the contractors
on issues unique to this field.
