Dear O & P List,
Thanks again to everyone that participated in my last (I must admit brutally long) leadership survey. I wanted to share with you some of the initial results just in time for Super Tuesday!
The survey has been posted since February 20th and 117 people took the survey, with 115 completing all of questions. The mean number of years of experience of the sample was 23.46 yrs the number of years, and number of years as a supervisor was 15.21 yrs.
In the Leadership Traits Questionnaire of the14 traits the top four traits of our ideal leaders were Communication, Trustworthy, Dependable, and Diligent. The lowest rated were Self-assured, Outgoing, Friendly, and Empathetic.
The Style Questionnaire that addressed how our leaders (or our last leader) act showed highest values for: Encourages Group Members, 3.92, Acts Friendly, 3.83, Behaves in a Predictable Manner, 3.78, Treats Others Fairly, 3.68. Rated poorly on the scale was: Provides a Plan for Work, 3.00, Helps Group Members Get Along, 3.03, Discloses Thoughts or Feelings, 3.04, Provides Criteria and Expectations, 3.19. The Likert Scale as a whole show much lower ratings at this level.
When doing a Self-assessment in the Skills Inventory, Understanding Basic Tasks, Good at Completing Tasks, How Decisions affect Others, and Enjoy getting into the Details were the top five things we pride ourselves on. Low on the scale were: Creating Mission Statements, Complex Organizational Issues, Following Directions and Filling out Forms, and Getting All parties to work together.
When scoring the Skills Inventory test I realized that there were significant discrepancies caused by a flaw in how the Skills Inventory Questionnaire allowed the user to check the boxes. Some of the early users could not check the assessment that they wanted to. Although I fixed the issue immediately it may have changed the data.
So like any good ethical researcher, I need appeal to you to take that portion over. Many thanks in advance. There are just two questions this time!

Thanks,
Gerry
