Just had a interesting experience with a work comp insurance. We
submitted for auth. and received a rejection stating that the Pt. will
be sent to a contracted provider for the devices that are needed. I
contacted the person from the work comp. insurance to ask who the
contracted provider was and she stated that it was Don Joy. Last I knew
Don Joy does not have a facility in the area? Are our loyal Don Joy
reps. fitting these needed devices?
RS Mosher co
Response:
I came across this old post because I myself came across the same thing. I found that DonJoy is operating it's work comp contracts under Midwest Medical Recourses, Inc. So my vender is my direct competitor? They have a shop here in Kansas City and in Saint Louis. The patient I was dealing with said that they came out to their house and measured and the returned later and fitted him at home. I seem to hear more and more of these stories about DonJoy. The reason I was seeing the patient was because the custom ACL brace they gave him fit like crap (30 days out) and the patient felt like the guy did not know what he was doing.
Anyone else coming across this?
Thanks,
Mike
