Original post:
L) brachial plexus with chronic neuralgic pain which periodically
becomes very intense. Radiates form neck to fingers.
No sensation to touch or pressure from shoulder to fingers apart from a
little in the 4th and 5th fingers.
Weak grip (can hold pen but poor sensation means unable to manipulate
it).
Active elbow flexion to 90 deg against gravity.
Shoulder and humeral atrophy. ?Some subluxation of shoulder.
Primary need is for pain relief by reducing strain on shoulder. Some
function may be possible.
I have trialled the patient with an Omotrain which was initially
promising but proved unsuitable due to intolerance to compression around
shoulder.
I am now considering the GivMohr sling or the Shoulder Saddle Sling but
have to purchase as non returnable items.
Please advise on your experience with these.

Many Thanks for your responses as follows:
Try a Kenny Howard or similar.

I used the GivMohr sling last year during my orthotic residency and had
decent results. 3 brachial plexus and one post stroke, all found it was
moderately beneficial for both pain relief and a feeling of security to
prevent losing balance. One pt wanted option to hold his arm up more
across chest so i added an adjustable strap through the hand piece
around the opposite side. He liked it.
I hope that helps.

You might want to try the Omo Neurexa from Otto Bock - I will send you
another e-mail I just got from them with a link to their information
website.
Good Luck!
