Hi to all,
A local Health Insurance Company are excluding from payment the following L
Codes on a permanent transtibial Prosthesis stating they are not necessary.
L5629 Addition to Lower Extremity, Below Knee, Acrylic Socket
L5704 Custom Shaped Protective Cover, Below Knee
L5962 Addition, Endoskeletal System, Below Knee, Flexible Protective Outer
Surface covering System
We preparing for the appealing process and would like to have documentation
as to why these are necessary on a TT Prosthesis. I called AOPA and they
could not provided any additional information on these L-Codes other then
the stated description. As a prosthetist I have enough arguments to appeal
and justify these L Codes, but I would like to hear from you.
Thanks!
