Thanks to all for responding. What an awesome resource the list serve continues to be!

Original Post:

I am going to be seeing a 3 year old who needs a CTO type orthosis. Looking for suggestions due to age causing a smaller stature patient. Ideally, looking at CTO style as Dr. is looking to give as much support as possible without grabbing onto the cranium like a Minerva type would. All responses appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Responses:

Trulife makes a pediatric cto, it is the johnson's cto. I have used that orthosis with patients that age with mild alterations. when you fit it make sure you mark everything for proper placement and tightness.

I have fit numerous Malibu collars with thoracic extensions on pediatric patients. They work pretty well. You can trim the foam collar to customize it for those tiny necks. The collar is pretty dense so I would advise the optional fabric liner to avoid skin breakdown. Prior to fitting Malibu's I used Johnson CTO's. They were ok. It seemed that the doctors were not as happy with that brace. I have also used the Aspen CTO with good results although it is not the most comfortable brace to sleep in. Hope this helps!

I did that once with a Miami J Ped. I think I made the thoracic extension or may have attached it to a TLSO

Take a look at the Trulife Pediatric Malibu w/ Thoracic Extension, CTO L0200
