Hello Colleagues,
At the risk of using up my quota of questions this months, here goes:
I have an active TT amp in his mid 30s. Previously used TPE 3mm liner +
elevated vac and we were eventually able to get a comfortable fit. (The
distal lateral tibia has always been a problem area due to the trauma
that caused the amputation.) I have now made a new socket, cast over an
Anatomic PUR liner. No matter how much relief I provide over this area,
he still can make bone contact with the socket, even with several socket
iterations. Yes, I have also tried counterpressure on the tibia more
proximally. I am now wondering if the large thick soft gel anatomic
padding over the tibia in this liner is is allowing his tibia to just
drift through the soft gel without providing adequate support. In other
words, would a regular thinner PUR liner allow me to provide better
counter-pressure against the lateral and mid- anterior tibia? This is my
first go with the Anatomic liner. Anyone have a similar experience?
Thankfully,
