List,
I have had a number of calls since the first of the year in regards to
becoming an independent contractor for DME companies that are billing for
orthotic services, specifically soft LSO type. They will pay a per fitting
fee and bill the appropriate insurance company. This has red flags all over
in regards to ethics, liability, patient management, HIPPA. All of these
companies have been from out of state and from what I can ascertain,
different DMERC regions. Did some law change or drop on January 1st, 2012
to possibly prompt this? I will post responses.
Regards,
