Dear Prosthetists and Orthotists,
I am writing to draw your attention to a deadline extension to December 31, 2011, for the second internation conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robotics, to be held at Tianjin University, China, 9-11 July, 2012. The first issue of this conference was a very inspiring event with many remarkable novel mechanisms. If you have any unconventional devices or interests then this focused conference is highly recommended.
Thanks and best wishes,
On behalf of the organizers,
Just Herder
CALL FOR PAPERS
2nd ASME/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots www.remar2012.com<outbind://195/www.remar2012.com> Paper submission due date: Dec 31, 2011
With the development of science and technology and with service robots, hazardous environment work, and production requirements of small batch and quick change-over, the traditional concept of mechanisms and robots development is facing a challenge in the 21st century to adaptability and reconfigurability.
Prosthetics and orthotic devices ideally adapt to the user, the task, and the environment continually. Therefore, reconfigurability can be a useful feature in this field to develop new devices with improved functionality and reduced burden.
The Second ASME/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots is to follow the success of the First ASME/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots (ReMAR2009) to provide an international forum for presenting and discussing new mechanisms and robots developed in the 1990s with new properties of changing the topological structure of a mechanism or a robot and for discussing their uses for domestic, hazardous, out-space and manufacturing environments. The main areas of this conference include following subjects:
* Reconfigurable Mechanisms
* Reconfigurable Robots
* Reconfigurable Manufacturing
* Kinematics & Dynamics of Reconfiguration * Various Topology Modelling * Bio-metamorphic Robotics * Bio-reconfiguration Engineering * Metamorphic Mechanisms * Biological Self-Assembly Mechanisms * Metamorphic Robotics * Modular Devices
Paper Submission
All papers submitted for review and publication must be delivered electronically in PDF format to the official submission website. Authors are requested to submit a full-length paper and Abstract-only papers are not acceptable. The length of a submitted paper should not exceed 10 pages, formatted in the proper publication style (Word, LATEX & PDF templates available on the conference website). Submitted manuscripts should be original work, not concurrently submitted to any other venue. Submitted papers will be reviewed by members of the Programme Committee and selected external reviewers. Selected papers will be listed in EI Compendex and loaded to IEEE Xplore and further reviewed and published in special issues of leading international journals. Details of the submission procedure are available on the official conference website (www.ReMAR2012.com<outbind://195/www.ReMAR2012.com>).
Special Sessions and Workshops
The ReMAR 2012 committee welcomes participants to organize special sessions or workshops that are close to the above subjects in this conference. Interested individuals should submit proposals to the secretariat by 5 December 2011. Submitted proposals will be evaluated by the Programme Committee.
Location
ReMAR 2012 will be held at Tianjin University, China, which is the first modern Chinese University and was established in 1895 as Peiyang University. Tianjin is one of four metropolis cities and is 29 minutes away from Beijing by a high-speed-train link.
Organizers
Jian S Dai, UK, Conference General Chair Xilun Ding, China, Programme Chair Xianwen Kong, UK, Programme Chair Matteo Zoppi, Italy, Organising Committee Chair Weizhong Guo, UK, Organising Committee Chair Shuxin Wang, China, Organising Committee Chair Just Herder, Netherlands, Publicity Chair And many others, see www.remar2012.com<outbind://195/www.remar2012.com>
