Dear list.
Does anyone have any experience or ideas on how to make an adaptive grip /
splint for a 10 year old patient with hemiplegia.
She has just started to learn how to play the violin and needs some
intervention to improve her hand grip postion.
She has hypertonicity and is postured with the wrist flexed, with mild
ulnar deviation with a very unstable CMC joint of the thumb.
She has had botox to the wrist flexors and can easily be brought to neutral
wrist extension with full finger extension.
I have talked to the family about an adapted custom Benik splint with an
elastomer putty grip to the frog of the bow as well as
a custom who attached with a coupling device to the frog.
These both seem cumbersome.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Brett Boutin
