Does anyone have any suggestions for socket/suspension designs to accomodate (atleast one) large bone spur for a transfemoral patient? I am waiting to see the x-rays but according to the patient the large fish hook shaped spur is about two thirds down medial distally. I think there are some minor spurs laterally as well. The doctor who finally took the x-rays which confirmed the bone spurs (and the patient himself) do not want to have revision surgery. Patient is 30 year old male transfemoral due to trauma. I have tried conventional socket designs with no success. I originally had him in a seal-in with no problems until spurs developed approximately two years post op. All ideas are welcome.
