I have provided a BK prosthesis for an 8 month old child. I am being
asked to assist with estimated future needs and prosthetic expenses. For those
of you who do a lot of pediatric prosthetics would you agree with the
below?
Skeletally immature years 8 months - 18 years old: 1 prosthesis per year,
1 socket change per year, $3000 per year in miscellaneous supplies and
repairs.
Skeletally mature years 18 - end of life: 1 prosthesis and socket change
every 3-4 years. $3,000 per year for miscellaneous supplies and repairs.
How much physical therapy is needed on average for a unilateral BK amputee
. I am thinking regular PT until age 5 but not much thereafter.
Thank You,
David Falk, LPO, CPO
