Text:
We have a very motivated patient that recently recovered from an
interscapulothoracic amputation, and is ready to proceed with his prosthetic
care. In talking with him of what his expectations and goals are, we decided
to move forward with an external controlled/myo prosthesis. In the past we
have fit patients like this with a Utah arm and Pro control.
It has been a few years since we fabricated this type of prosthesis, and are
aware that there has been a lot of advances in upper extremity components
that are available. We are looking for suggestions of what practitioners
have had success with fitting recently. We are particularly interested in
what shoulder joints work well, as well as which elbow/hand systems work
well.
Thank you for the help!
