Hi all,

I have been involved in an intense debate, and I was hoping if I could pick some brains on the subject.
A patient aged 13yrs received an shoulder disarticulation 7years ago. His residual arm has limited range of motion and a decision needs to be made if prosthetic rehabilitation is liable for this youngster. He has been tested for the use of an myo-electric arm and deems to be a good candidate. OT and psychological assessment proofs him to be mentally sound for such a step.

However the question remains?
Would the patient reject the prosthesis, because he has been without one for so long and has learned to get by without it?
OR
Could he be successfully rehabilitated with the right therapy and coaching?

Kind Regards
