Hello Listservers,
We have a new TF amputee who received his first defn. prosthesis this week. We had him use a Medi Liner as a shrinker for a period of time with no problem. We fit him to the prosthesis with a second Medi Liner of the same size and again encountered no problems during the prototype phase. He informed us the day after delivery that he had 4 distinct rectangles of blisters ( approx. 2cm. X 4cm. vertically oriented at evenly spaced intervals of 2-3cm. ) located about 10cm. proximal from the end and only on the anterior surface. I was not able to eval. the fit of his limb and the liner in the flex. socket because his skin was so raw; but I will next week. The amputee is conciencious and follows instructions. I suspect friction, but why in four distinct areas?
Thanks in advance and I'll post everyone's thoughts.
