I have 2 questions, 1 O and 1 P, both materials:
> 1) At a NEAAOPs meeting I saw a VERY flexible material used for a molded inner boot on an AFO (?silicone based?). I am interested in getting some for the same use on a patient, but do not remember what is was....anyone?
> 2) I have a wrist disartic patient and I'm interested in possibly doing a suction-suspension w/ a microvalve (in addition to the suprastyloid suspension). Can someone w/ experience with this type of UE system give me suggestions on a thin material for the flexible inner socket. (& a good microvalve to use?)
Replies:
seaflex and or erckoflex
matl from BraceMasters (inner boot)
Daw flexible thermo plastic and the ESP Peewee valve
send socket to OttoBock. they have nice full silicone flexible socket.
KISS CMP19/a expulsion valve
Euro International = end_of_the_skype_highlightingMASTERFLEX COLORS. very flexible material ideal for inner boot and SMO braces...also have customers using it for Upper X and socket trim or inner socket
* Comes in 2mm and 4m
* The sheet size is 40 x 40
* The material comes in 15 different colors
* Easy to weld together WITHOUT adhesive
* The transparent comes in 5 different mm's in a 40 x 40 sheet and 3 different mm's in a 16 x 16 sheetPee wee valve from ESP
Duraflex from Guard Industries for our inner boots (several replies)
(note on 1 Duraflex reply: “The flexible material sounds like duraflex - great for SMO/AFO hybrids. You will need to get some cellulose acetate to coat it with for molding the AFO section. The cellulose acetate paints on and then flakes off.)
We developed a simple design with a screw (from a toilet seat, no less!) that allowed the patient to don the prosthesis in a looser fashion and to then tighten the large screw with a key or coin for appropriate pressure on the inner liner depending on the activity. In regards to the plastic, I use proflex without silicone.
bioelastic or Themorlyn Super soft from OttoBock.
From O&P Enterprises, Inc = OpFlex. We have it as thin as 1/16 - going up to 1/4. It's being very successfully used for the flexible booties for AFO's as well as for prosthetic sockets of all kinds
