Dear List,
I am trying to find a brace for a woman with multiple lesions close to the
spine as high as T4. She's at high risk for fractures, & her doctor wants
her in a TLSO to stabilize her spine while she sits in a wheelchair. This
woman weighs more than 350 pounds and is very fleshy, so a rigid system
would be very uncomfortable. The doctor is averse to using a clamshell style
plastic brace for this reason. Another hurdle is that the rehab facilitiy
she is in will be picking up the cost of this brace. I've been asked for a
recommend that will keep the price down. I was considering a semi-rigid TLSO
(like Hope Ortho's Ortholux) to keep the patient from being too
uncomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions for an ots brace can
stabilize as high as T4?
