REPLIES: Prosthetic-Orthotic Limb Graphic Art

The following is my original post followed by the much appreciated 8
replies I received and have reformatted for posting.
 
My post was actually inspired by a gentleman, Rich Bochart Rich Bochart of
Mara Bochart Design, LLC, (330-814-4821), who stopped in my office to show
me a Syme's Prosthesis he and his wife, Mara, had recently done for a
young girl using his wife's custom art work and the NASCAR type vehicle warp
technique they employ, which was very impressive.
 
My post was intended to explore what other options for this type of art
and technique might already be available for this purpose. Rich and his wife
are currently exploring the possibilities offering their services to P&O

As with any new technology or service, it is always best to see samples of
one's product or work, as well as ask for testimonials, when appropriate.

Is prosthetic-orthotic limb graphic art something you are offering or
getting more and more requests for in your practice?
 
If so, is there anyone who has had experience with the use of, or a source
for, custom graphics that would be equivalent or similar to the techniques
being used in today's NASCAR high impact vehicle wraps or vinyl graphics?
 
I am not referring to the traditional fabric acrylic or epoxy laminated
techniques we have used on prosthetic limbs for some time now.
 
Thanks for any input you might have on this subject.

2. There are a few central fabrication facilities that are doing water
transfer graphics on prosthetic sockets. The few that I know are Otto Bock
and Hutnick Rehab Support Services (631-467-3725). I would try Hutnick first
and talk to Craig or Glen Hutnick.

6. I have been doing some graphic art designs for some of my patient's
sockets with very nice results using a vinyl wrap. I have only been doing
them for my patients, but have been considering offering this service to other
practitioners and/or patients. I think it has several advantages over
traditional lamination techniques. The colors are much more vibrant. We can
customize the design however the patient desires. Once designed, it can be
duplicated for other sockets. Or if the patient wants to change designs,
it can be easily done without the expense of fabricating another socket.
Attached are pictures of a couple sockets that I've done with this method.

7. I have had several transtibial sockets and pylons dipped using water
transfer designs. It also works great on polypro and co-poly afo's and
sockets. Let me know if you want me to send you pictures. My work was done at

8. The graphics are heat shrunk to the object I believe. The graphics
pattern would need to be size corrected to the object to appear correct on
completion. Springlite had clear heat shrink you could eval. Let me know what
