Hello Colleagues and Guests:
There was no real consensus about materials used for athletic face
masks, other than most seem to use DurrPlex. There are other and newer
materials out there, but the majority of folks suggested copolyester
DurrPlex. Other materials commonly mentioned were Surlyn, Lexan, and
Uvex. Fillauer has an improved product called DurrFlex, but it is
evidently not available in thin sheets. Two other materials mentioned
were Germany's StreifyPET from Euro International and North Sea Plastics
(Endolite Supplier) Northplex. This material comes in 2,3 and 4 mm
sheets which seems ideal for this application and it is an improved
copolyester P.E.T.G. Surlyn is of course very flexible and also
resistant to cracking. I'm sure there are pros and cons to each of these
materials, but now you know what other folks are using.
Thanks again for your replies.
