Thank you Group in advance:
I have a 59 year old man, active, 5'9, 180#'s, with a Left Hip Disarticulation secondary to bone cancer in his knee. He was referred to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston for surgery. Amputation was completed and healed without difficulty. He is a boat motor mechanic, working and uses an electric scooter for transportation while at work. He was referred for a prosthetic leg, one that he will be able to use at work. He will not be in water, but will be around saltwater in particular. He is an active individual with no complications in his surgical area, no complications in ambulating with crutches, no health problems (cardiac, blood pressure, circulation). Funding source will be from Secondary payer with concerns on expense.
Question today is...Recommended componentry for a Hip Disarticulated Prosthesis. I would like to know what you have used for this type of prosthesis. Microprocessor knees are out of the question. And, who has experience in Central Fabrication for these.
Thank you again.
