Replies to knee brace codes:
Basically the responses I am getting is either to use L2999, use L1820 and charge the patient for the difference for custom, or just have the patient self pay. This was pretty much what I had figured. Thanks again everyone. Sincerely, Paula

It seems like last time I called Benik to ask this same question, they recommended a dump code or the pre-fab code.

I'm sorry, I was not very clear. I wanted L-codes...I apologize again. I'm pretty sure that there aren't any but I was hoping. Sincerely Paula

Pull loops, 1/4 neoprene (4771H), etc. Just call them and talk to them. Also, give them circ. at +6, +3, knee center, -3, -6. For larger patients, go up and down sufficiently far (maybe 8 or so and use the 4771H.). The thigh should be pulled slightly snug as they seem to make it true which leaves the thigh a little on the plus side. Try once and you'll never even think of trying any other way. I tell my patients they'll be responsible for the the custom fee which hovers under fifty bucks. They quickly embrace this option when I let them know the wraparounds suck when new and only get worse from there. Call me if I can be of any further help for your first one!
