Hello!
I am inquiring on behalf of Illini Prosthetic Technologies, a student
start-up based in Champaign, IL. Our group has begun our second phase of BE
prosthesis development, with intentions of distributing our product to
amputees in third world countries.
We are experimenting with new and different materials for this development
phase, and I was wondering if anyone had worked with shape memory alloys in
the past? I would also be interested to see if there were other materials
(metals, plastics, etc.) that anyone might think would be useful for
incorporation into our designs. Leaning towards something that could be
both flexible yet rigid has lead me towards materials like shape memory
alloys.
If anyone has any advice or contacts that could help our group out on this
matter in anyway it would be greatly appreciated!
