Hello Colleagues and Guests, again,
Following is a link to a website that some might find interesting. I
have been advocating for years that our field should have a mechanical
and electrical engineering base, coupled of course with the medical
training. Even though I'm now one of the old ____'s in the field, I
guess I may get a glimpse of what the future holds. I am told that the
video you see is old and there are much better videos regarding this
product. In fact, I hear one video shows a person climbing end over end
going up stairs. With that said, I fully understand that there is much
more to this picture from a prosthetic viewpoint. Nevertheless it
illustrates what may be around the corner. I love the new term;
Intelligent Mechatronics. So if you are really serious about O&P, you
might want to consider sending your kids to a school that teaches
intelligent mechatronics. Don't ask my how they will every learn to fit
a prosthesis though. I suppose they'll have to hire a prosthetist for
that. I'm still struggling with the term mechatronitionist, but I guess
it can be pronounced. After all, some have learned to pronounce
prosthetist. So maybe the new term might be something like Licensed
Prosthetic Mechatronistionist. Anyway, the video looks like an old
HydraCadence on steroids.
Enjoy.
