Dear List,

I am looking for some advice on prosthetic hands and gloves. I have a
patient who works as a mechanic and is currently using a Becker Lock-
grip hand, basically as a passive hand. His biggest complaint is that
the cosmetic gloves are not durable. He is currently using an Otto
Bock PhysoSkin Clean glove and has used Centri Micro Coated Silicone
gloves in the past as well.

Because the patient is using this hand as a passive hand I figure I
may as well see if there are other hands that will not be so hard on
the glove. The patient would like a passive hand that remains closed
(does not want the normal straight-fingered passive hand look) and
would like the opening between the thumb and first finger to be wide
enough to hold a fishing rod.

Suggestions for hands and durable gloves would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
