I have found that self adhesive stuff almost always comes loose- what I
do is skive light cowhide or 1.5mm bocklite on the edges, sand the
socket edges for better glue adhesion and then use thinned masters
adhesive to bond it and I take my time to get a optimal bond. It will
usually hold up for a while. I have thought of buying auto or marine
trim for edges and glue that on but have never tried It yet. Good luck
