Here is my original post and the responses that I recieved. I would like to
thank everyone for their suggestions.
We are a small private practice in central Indiana and are currently using
Medflex as our O and P software . We are currently looking into switching
over to Brightree. Has anyone had any experience switching from Medflex to
Brightree? Any opinions good or bad on either Medflex or Brightree would be
greatly appreciated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you considered Acc-Q-Data's billing software? I've used it and found
it to be excellent, and they can provide collection services as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We currently use Medflex, as compaired to Bright Tree, it is more cost
effective and there have been some much needed updates. We also tried Opie,
it was just to drawn out, not a user friendly softwear for my office.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
we have medflex and have tried opie software but it was not a good fit for
our company, and then we looked into the brightree and decided that we would
probably be better off with the medflex.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are a billing service experienced with Brightree, Pacware and Fastrack.
We have not used Medflex. Brightree is a very good system for tracking
inventory and billing, and it's convenient to use an internet based
application. If the internet is down, you're lost, but that seems to happen
very rarely these days. Just be aware that it requires a lot of set up and
training time, and it costs a lot more than they let on if you are to use it
to full advantage. Everything is ala carte.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are also a small O and P facility and we have been using Brightree for
nearly 18 months n a rental month by month basis. My staff tried for
desperately to make it work for us before dumping it and going back to the
old paper and pencil method. As it turned out, my staff hated the program,
training was not efficient, there were too many things that didn't meet our
needs, and for the price we were paying monthly, it just wasn't worth it.
This doesn't mean that it won't be good for you, but for the past few
months, we have been considering OPIE - it really looks like a much better O
and P management program.
A few years ago I was with a facility that used Futura and that program
seemed to do very well, but support was a little slow.
Good Luck!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After many years with medflex - researching many options, we chose OPIE, and
made the switch January1. I believe you would be wise to deeply consider
OPIE/Zirmed over brightree
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You should look into OPIE. We use brightree now and I have used OPIE in the
past and OPIE is the way to go. We went paperless with brightree, but we
still print everything off and then scan it into brightree. Kind of defeats
the purpose of paperless. A system that lets the front desk enter all the
patient information in so that it can be used over and over again on
multiple forms is the way to go. Just my thoughts on this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to comment that I saw Brightree, and Futura, but we decided to go
with OPIE as the overall package was better. Brightree had great reporting,
but OPIE was more user friendly. We too have Medflex. We are running it for
about 8 months and had a start date for the patients to enter into OPIE.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While I cannot say that I have experience with Brightree, I do know that you
are smart to move away from Medflex. Worst experience of our lives. Poor
support, glitches and rude customer service. Great move for you!!!! We
went to Futura...in hindsight, I would probably have gone to Opie, but now,
with 6 offices and a C-Fab and MFG facility, it may be toooooo late to
switch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We currently use Brightree. I found it to be easy to learn and is, for the
most part, user friendly. A few problems we have run into are:
-Limited character space in the additional information box when describing
what you did/parts you used when billing a L5999 or 7510/20 code
-After entering a WIP the patient account frequently has to be closed out
and reopened before assigning it to the designated person (which only takes
a few seconds but can be annoying)
I have never used Medflex, but I would not hesitate to recommend Brightree -
overall it works well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would do OPIE hands down. Does so much more. Costs about $10,000
up front but they will work with you. Brightree is about $1,000 a month for
life. Brightree I understand is good but is expensive. I just think OPIE
does a lot more in terms of storing patient charts, process case
management, etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to use Medflex, it was alright, but we switched to Futura and
love it.
Futura has everything built in, does the coding updates, ICD-9 built in.
Ties everything to patient records, you can scan in your documents,
images. Scheduling, inventory, job tracking. It is a great O&P software
and I think affordable.
