Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, we lost a dear friend and colleague Gerald L.
Martin. After serving the O & P community for several years as a
Registered Prosthetic Technician, Jerry graduated with Honors from
Florida International University's Baccalaureate program in 1995. He
proceeded to complete his prosthetics residency at The Cleveland Clinic
in Ohio, but his affinity for all things tropical brought him quickly
back to Florida. He established his practice in Tamarac, near Ft.
Lauderdale where easy access to the Gulf Stream made fishing for dolphin
and diving for lobster his favorite pastime. In Jerry's pursuit of
excellence, he achieved a Fellowship in the Academy of Orthotists and
Prosthetists. As a patient advocate, he vigorously lobbied with state
representatives to gain support and eventual passage of the licensure
law. In an effort to be closer to family, he was currently in the
process of expanding his practice to the New Port Richey area. Jerry
will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, October
29, in Union Town, Ohio.
