Below is an interesting email exchange between myself and the seller of the
eBay prosthetic leg kit
Apparently this individual is a certified prosthetist. And now apparently I
can't buy his kit I am very saddened.
Me:* Dear gimp4diy,*
Where do I get all the rest of the parts? How much is this going to
all cost? Are you a prosthetist? What background do you have? How many of
these have you made?
Him: I can get you anything you want.
Cost depends on what else you use for the leg - you get everything
to build a basic direct contact suction socket in the kit.
Yes I am.
I am also an AK amputee.
Have made lots of them - BUT - YOU are the one making it; not me to
the same way most every prostheticist does - I just show you tricks and
provide the materials; as to how to get it done yourself.
You need to understand - YOU are making this - all MY experience
does not matter - I just provide the kit with the parts and items needed -
and show you how that you cannot likely get anywhere else.
Me: What if I want something like a cleg? How would I go about getting one
of those? What about warranties on the parts? Are they new or used? Are you
a certified prosthetist?
Him: None of those questions are related to this listing.
But to answer your question a C-Leg cannot be sold online and setup
because Otto Bock requires the prostheticist to be Otto Bock certified.
While I could get you one - I would not try.
If it is taken apart, and/or assembled from new - it is in what is
called native mode and the leg is stiff and not walk-able without
programming.
The software to do so is only available to Otto Bock certified
prostheticists and cannot by agreement as an Otto Bock certified
prostheticist be provided to the wearer.
Here is a listing of an item I sold which talks about the C-Leg and
has a quote from one of it's repair techs.
<URL Redacted>
Find an Otto Bock C-Leg certified prostheticist by going to the Otto
Bock clegstories.com web site and finding one in your area.
As to new or used and warranties - new parts come with manufacturers
warranties - whatever they are - ONLY if the the selling prostheticist
certifies and can prove the item is installed according to the manufacturers
design setup and instructions.
Used items are as-is
Yes - there are two of us here - but certification AGAIN has nothing
to do with you building your own socket - and since you seem to be lost in
what EXACTLY is for sale in this listing, I have blocked you from buying on
eBay from us.
When people start asking all sorts of questions not related to the
listing of the item for sale - they are seeking consulting and it is time to
be through with that because is time consuming and it always turns into an
eBay problem. No thanks.
Advice is not a part of the listing, and it is not FREE nor for sale.
Visit prostheticleg.info for more information - this eBay volley is
concluded
Thanks for your interest.
