Hello all
I have encountered a problem with Aetna denying a claim for a VASS (vacuum
assisted socket system) claiming that Aetna considers the VASS as
experimental and investigational because there is insufficient evidence in the
medical literature that these specialized components improve the function of
the artificial limb or provide any other clinically significant benefits.
Of course I plan on appealing but would solicit any help any of you have
had in successfully appealing this determination. Seems hard to believe
after all these years of successful fittings that an insurance company can make
such a claim-
