Good morning list,

I would like to ask a few questions about licensure. We have recently
formed a state association here in Virginia and are looking into
licensure for our state and would like to get as much feedback as we can
on the best way to proceed and what to expect.

Here are our questions about state licensure:

1) Anyone willing to send us a hard copy of their regulations,
compliance and enforcement laws and written policies?

2) What works well in your system and what would you encourage Virginia
to include?

3) What does not work well for you and what should we avoid as we go
forward?

4) When was your law passed and how often has it been amended or
changed?

5) When your certification became law what groups supported the effort
and what groups opposed it?

6) What was the length of time it took to get the law passed (i.e. one
year...two years...ect.?)

7) Would anyone be willing to write a letter to the members of the
Virginia General Assembly whenever we decide to go forward about the
experience in their state?

8) Specifically, what are the costs to your practices and to your state
as a result of certification and enforcement?

9) Can you give me specific examples of how licensure has been a
benefit to your patients?

10) In general how is the relationship between the O&P providers and
the regulators in your state?

Thanks in advance for your responses,
