The orthotic and prosthetic profession lost a gentle giant today. Ben
Moss passed away this morning at the age of 89. He will be missed
dearly by his friends and colleagues. Ben has been active in the
profession since the early 1960s when he bought the Florida Brace
Company. He is a past president of AOPA and gave countless hours
towards improving the profession that he served for over 40 years. He
remained actively involved in the management of the company known for
manufacturing the Jewett(r) brace until recent years when his daughter
Anne took over the daily management duties. Even then Ben took a keen
interest in the company as the chairman of its board. Ben's love for
life and his smile are remembered fondly by everyone who had the
pleasure of knowing him. A memorial service will be held at Baldwin
Fairchild Goldenrod Chapel in Winter Park, Florida at 2:00 on Saturday,
May 8. For additional information please visit
