We have a patient that is a Hip Dis. That also has scoliosis. In the past we have built a socket that also incorporated body jacket technique into the socket. We use a Proflex liner and ¼ copoly shell that wraps around the torso. We have run into the problem of the copoly flexing too much at the hip plate (LITTIG Hip) which allows the copoly to crack and the hip plate to break. This led us to believe a laminated socket may be the way to go. Our only issue is how do you make it flexible/sturdy enough to get into around the torso, but sturdy enough to hold up at the plate without using flexible resin. What matierials (combination of aralon/ spectra/ nylon/etc.?) has anyone used and how many layers of each would you suggest? Patient is 5'7 165# and a low level 3. We are looking for any suggestions, so we don't waste too much time and matierials on trial and error. Attached is a rough example of an old leg.
