Dear List
I am contacting you with details of a new initiative - the Global Community of Practice for Rehabilitation (GCoPR) - which is an on-line forum open to all who are working in the field of rehabilitation. The forum is a joint initiative between the Scottish Executive and the WHO, with a secretariat based at the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. The GCoPR had a low-key launch in June 2009 with a week -long discussion period on the issues faced by the providers of Community Based Rehabilitation around the world.
We are planning a further 6-month discussion period which will start at the ISPO / Orthpaedie + Reha-Technik conference in May 2010 in Leipzig, Germany, at which we will have both space at the Forum International and are also hoping to run a number of webcast events from sessions taking place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th May. These webcasts will be streamed live through the GCoPR website and then archived for future viewing. They will also form the basis of on-line discussions between our members, which we hope will facilitate greater knowledge exchange and thereby improved service delivery. We will also be recording a number of interviews with some of the session presenters thereby offering a chance for our members to submit questions on the presentations either in person, if they are attending the conference, or via the website. Over the course of the summer - culminating at the CBR conference in Africa in October 2010 - we will be webcasting presentations from a number of international conferences and also hope to have live input/interactive discussions with each of the 6 WHO regions and global experts - again to stimulate on-line discussion through the website.
I do hope that this would be of interest to you and would also ask that you forward this email onto any colleagues who might be interested in joining our community.
