Hello List,
My questions today are about preparatory sockets.
Historically, I have used laminated sockets, but have recently been informed that Medicare does not consider acrylic lamination medically necessary in preparatory sockets(?) Use of an expulsion valve for my TTs, billed as suction socket -L5647 is also not considered medically necessary in prep's.
1) Is there a different/more appropriate code for the valve?
2) What are you using for your prep's besides polypro?
3) Why is it more medically necessary to provide locking liners & lock mechanism for suspension vs a suction socket w/knee sleeve? Seems to me we can keep a shrinking residual limb safe & secure within a TC, suction socket longer than the more wt bearing specific/PTB-type locking pin system socket.
As always, your input is greatly appreciated.
