RESEARCH SUBJECTS NEEDED FOR A PROJECT ON LONG ISLAND, NY

Project: “Treadmill Training Study for Persons with Unilateral
Lower Extremity Limb Loss”
Study PI’s: Eric Lamberg, EdD, PT and Lisa Muratori, EdD, PT

The purpose of this study is to see if a large amount of walking practice
on a treadmill can improve
the functional abilities of an individual with unilateral lower extremity
limb loss.
The study involves 15 sessions over 10-12 weeks for a total commitment of
about 13.5 hours.
· An initial testing session for baseline functional and quality of
life measures.
· 12 treadmill training visits that take place 3x/week for 4 weeks.
· A post-training testing session, 1 week after completing the
training.
· A follow-up testing session, 4 weeks after completing the
training.
Upon completion of the study participants will receive $300.00.

To be eligible:
· Unilateral leg amputation that is either below the knee, through
the knee, or above the knee
· Between the ages of 21 -70
· Weight less than 360lbs and height less than 6'3
· Have current prosthesis for at least 6 months
