A forwarded request from a colleague currently unable to log-on to the list:
Subject: Full Stride KAFO's
Does someone have info they would like to share regarding using bilateral Full
Stride KAFO’s for an incomplete SCI patient. Currently I have a patient who
uses a pair of locked KAFO’s and walks with forearm crutches. He is able to
traverse very well (walks 3-4 city blocks at a time) but would like to have
some input from a patient/practitioner with similar condition prior to initiating
fabrication. Specifically, is there a decrease in energy expenditures? Does the
walking get easier or faster? If you have any input or if you have a patient
that my client can talk to, please let me know.
Much obliged.
