Text:
I have been contacted by a physical therapist concerning an 18 month old boy with Spina Bifida. He is diagnosed L2 but presents more like L3-L4. 2/5 hip flexors with gravity, some hip extension without gravity, dorsi and plantar flexion 2/5. Trunk and upper extremity weakness. When excited can induce enough tone to stand for 2-3 seconds. She is enquiring weather RGO's would be an option for this child. I have had experience with RGO's but not with someone this young. Is this patient to young to start with RGO's or are they overkill and would an HKAFO be a better choice?
