Hello
here is a summary of the responses to definition of prosthesis
I noticed the web page refers to the device as *
Freedom_Leg_Walking_Leg_Brace*
<URL Redacted>
Kraig Helberg CP
Did you ever here the term Prosthosis?
It's sort of a combination
Mark Benveniste CP
Sean Taylor
Kraig............probleamtic to say the least that would be a
problem.........
.L. Lott......ABC-E
The term Prosthesis doesn't bother me too much. Prosthesis, orthosis,
prosthetic and
orthotic have been so commonly misused recently it is changing their
definitions.
Maybe the better term would be Prosthosis What does bother me is their
claim that it
has zero weight on the foot. While the thigh component is carrying some of
the weight, the foot is
clearly being weighted inside the boot or shoe. Jim Thelen, CP, BOCO
she walks terribly, if you want my opinion. why in the world it has to be
bent so much?
for weight bearing on the posterior thigh? knee flexion contracture, lower
back problem
written all over this.but! combine the idea with adjustable ROM andlocking
knee joint......
so that it can be kept straight during ambulation or accommodate knee
condition.besides, there's g'ol Patten bottom.. Ingvar Leskovar
email sent to the web sight.
To whom it may concern:
I recently became aware of one of your products, the Freedom Leg Brace, and
commend you for the
development of this unique device and its us to off-load a limb for
ambulation with out crutches.
Your advertising however is misleading by calling it an Off-Loading
Prosthetic. I would encourage
you not to use the term Off-Loading Prosthetic in the marketing of your
Freedom Leg Brace,
as it is not a prosthetic device, it is an orthotic device!
I would suggest you research the definitions of the terms you are using from
creditable
sources and medical dictionaries.
With kindest regards,
John N. Billock, CPO/L,
