Responses to Theratogs Billing:
1) Think CMS came out with new guidelines which state that they will not cover any elastic orthoses. The insurance companies we have checked with state that they will not cover theratogs any longer.
2) We have been successful in billing the L1690 but you need to be careful of
the Dx codes.
3) We provide DMO's and use the unlisted coding with pretty good write up to
document the cost and service. You could use the same format for the togs as
well. We've been getting paid slowly, yes, but paid. Send me a fax and I'll
send it to you.
4) The Theratogs are coded as A9270. Please refer to the PDAC Web site for coding information. <URL Redacted>
Search under products to find the proper coding.
5) In NYS they are not recognized as an orthosis and cannot be billed to
Medicaid. The L1690 code as I see does not describe the orthosis. It
is provided by the company with the statement that they are not
recommending it but other people have used it. Way to gray for me.
