Hello Everyone,

We are about to begin a search for a new staff Certified Orthotist. I do not
want to spend the time (two months, in some cases) waiting for journals to
be published, etc. to start getting responses to a printed ad. What has been
the most successful means of finding a practitioner for you? On-line
postings? Word of mouth? Further, how would you, as a business owner,
respond if your employees began receiving emails from a competitor? It has
been suggested to me that one method of picking from the local talent
would be to pick email addresses out of the ABC Registry for certified
practitioners in the Oregon and Washington areas, and send them a blind
email (so they couldn't see who all the email went to) advertising our job
opening. Honestly, I don't know how I would respond if one of my own
employees got one of these. A competitor of mine suggested that it would be
wrong for an employer to hinder the career advancement of one of their
employees and, therefore, that sending out an email, as described above, is
totally acceptable. Not sure yet if I buy that argument. I'd appreciate any
opinions on this idea, as well as names of websites used for advertising,
most bang for you buck hiring practices, etc.

I will definitely post the responses!

Thanks in advance,
