Hello All,
Here is a summary of the responses that I received. The one I had in my head was the Tru Mold Niagra Brace, because it is more open on top like a traditional Plastic AFO, but I believe that some of the other companies can make them that way as well if you would like.
As far as the question of what kind of patient this is for, it is for someone that we have offered numerous options to with other types, none of which are satisfactory to them, and this option isn't exactly satisfactory to them either, but is the best solution for them that we can make and they will try to accept. This is the conclusion we have come to try not so much because of clinical reasons, as much as other variables.
This is the original question:
Hello all,
We recently got a flyer about a company that makes custom shoes combined with an
AFO, but cannot find the flyer now. Also cannot remember who the company was.
We now have someone that may benefit from this. Anyone know who has this?
Thanks

American Shoe calls it the TORCH walker.
American Custom Shoes Makes the Torch, which is a hybrid leather plastic afo built inside a boot. It looks like a biker boot, but it is what it is. Tru-Mold makes the Niagra, which is similar. And Jerry Miller makes the Buffalo brace, which basically is a short afo built into a 5 or 6 boot.
Euro International has one called Orthotech
Branier custom molded shoes makes a good one. I think it's called the Sebring boot.
They also have a good turnaround times.
Arizona Brace has the EC Neurowalker and Arizona Closed Toe Walker that are, in essence, an Arizona AFO/custom shoe all in one.
New EnglandBrace Company has a variant of a standard plastic and a standard metal AFO made from an impression taken over the patients shoe.
it's called TORCH, made by American Shoe. i had several of those made. some success, some less, mostly patient compliance issues
Not sure of the company your referring to but I'm curious , what are the details of the patient that makes him/her a good candidate for that?
