Hello List,
I have recently been referred a young mid 30's patient with a recent trans-tibial amputation due to complications from Spina Bifida. Has anyone successfully billed Medicare for a prosthesis for a patient who is non-ambulatory? His physician has ordered a prosthesis and he is very eager to receive one, however medical necessity is strictly psychological. I believe he may have some balance benefit, but have little basis for this argument. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.
