Thank you all for the many responses to my question about problems with a clients running prosthesis.
A quick summary of the respones....
To reduce sweating and suspension problems-
Antiperspirant (over the counter or by Rx) applied the night before a run
A tighter silicone suspension sleeve or a band around the top of the sleeve to prevent perspiration from running down the thigh and into the suspension sleeve.
A few of you also felt that air pockets tend to develop during running and the tighter silicone may prevent that. It was also suggested that a quick tug on the back of the silicone can express any trapped air.
My favorite, and one which we will defenitely try is the good old fashioned Y strap connected to a belt with an elastic strap. It both holds the prosthesis in place and assists extension. Amazing how something which I think many of us would only expect to use only on our oldest wearers can be good for an athlete too.
To allow for the greatest range of motion suggestions included pre flexed silicone liners and lowering the posterior trim line.
Thanks to all
