Hello everyone,

?I have a question and I hope someone out there can assist. Recently two hip disartics came in back to back with simular residuals, simular age, same activity level, and the same basic issue. They had been told by every O&P in my area that they could not make the prosthetics and sent them on their way. I have never backed down from a challenge and would never say I could'nt provide a prosthetic device soley on ability. Insurance issues are a different story.

The problem with the two fellows is that they are 300lbs and have the potential to be quite active. The hip circumference on the first is 55 inches and casting has been a endeavor to say the least. I need a solution that can handle a possible K3 activity level.

I have been told that door hinges can be used but, I am little scared of that idea. First all it has to be safe, second I can't have the legs weighing 30lbs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I get these made,I will post the pictures of the prosthetics. Thanks in advance.
