Ronnie Graves and the Sumter Disaster Animal Response Team responded once
again to help defenseless animals who were living in hell. Last Monday, in
Randolph County Alabama, we were requested to be there to house and
transport the fighting dogs seized in two raids occurring that morning. 45
dogs were seized and two fighters were hauled off to jail facing multiple
charges, including not only animal cruelty and owning and training fighting
dogs, but drug possession, weapons possession by a felon. We worked from
5:30 am Monday until 1:30 am Tuesday rescuing, transporting, off loading and
then cleaning up the equipment before we found rooms. When we left, all of
the dogs had received vet care, fresh food and water, and something they
probably never gotten, AFFECTION from a human.
Please look at our website and click on the pit bull on the home page for a
page with other photos and description of our events.
The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA were involved in the
rescue along with a large number of local law enforcement. Fighting animals
is illegal, cruel and barbaric.
I am very proud to be a member of the rescue groups that respond to such
horror.
