At the request of the Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research
Foundation (OPERF), I would like to remind you of the upcoming
submission deadlines for the 2009 OPERF Awards Program.
The deadline for letters of intent for the Fellowship and Small Grant
awards is May 1st and the deadline for proposals is May 15th. The
submission deadline for the Resident Travel Awards is May 15th as well.
I would urge you to go to the OPERF website www.operf.org and check out
these opportunities.

Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation Announces New
Awards
The Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (OPERF),
Inc. is now soliciting applications for the 2009 OPERF Award Program.
The Award Program is designed to encourage and stimulate research at all
levels in the O&P profession. Thanks to generous donations from O&P
professionals, business owners, manufacturers, and organizations, more
than $35,000 in awards are being offered in 2009. Five awards ranging
from $1,000 to $25,000 are now available in the following categories.
2009 OPERF Resident Travel Awards
The OPERF Resident Travel Award Program is designed to support the
travel of prosthetic and orthotic residents to the American Academy of
Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) Annual Meeting & Scientific Symposium
so that they may present their NCOPE (National Commission on Orthotic
and Prosthetic Education) required residency research (i.e., Directed
Study) project. The $1000 Travel Awards will be given to deserving O&P
residents seeking to share the results of their directed study at the
Annual Meeting. Two Resident Travel Awards will be offered in 2009.
2009 OPERF Fellowship Awards
The OPERF Fellowship Award Program is designed to support quality
graduate education research related to the orthotic and prosthetic (O&P)
profession. The $5,000 Fellowship Awards will be given to deserving and
qualified students to support their graduate research. Two Fellowship
Awards will be offered in 2009.
2009 OPERF Small Grant Award
The OPERF Small Grant Award Program is designed to support quality
investigator-initiated research related to the orthotic and prosthetic
(O&P) profession. Small grant funding of up to $25,000 will be made
available to support qualified and capable investigators that conduct
novel and clinically-relevant O&P research. One Small Grant Award will
be offered in 2009.
O&P residents, graduate students, and investigators are encouraged to
apply. Details regarding the OPERF Award Program, specific award
descriptions, submission instructions, deadlines, and application forms
may be found on the OPERF website at www.OPERF.org
