Dear Colleagues:
Most of you who know me are aware that I
have been involved in international humanitarian activities for the past
eight years. Most of the current focus for these efforts is in Eastern
Europe where I am assisting colleagues for Human
Study, NGO to design and present a blended P&O distance learning
program for clinicians with limited patient care experience in developing
countries. We are also working with rehab facilities throughout the Balkans to
provide patient consults and P&O clinical education to physicians, physical
therapists and other health professionals via lecture-seminar
series.
Supplies, equipment, parts,
expendables, etc. for our DLE program, on-site seminars and periodic
hands-on workshops are coming from where-ever we are able to negotiate best
prices and/or humanitarian donations. A year or so ago, I responded to an offer
through P&O Listserve from Christian J. Tometich, C.Ped, RTO, ABC #
RTO01671. Mr. Tometich owns a company in Austin
Texas known as Online Central Fab and was offering his over-stock of
surform files in quantity, at a price that sounded too good to be true and
for which I provided my personal
credit card numbers and was subsequently charged $400+.
Apparantely the price was too good to be true and it appears Mr. Tometich
may be running a scam.
Sure, I took a chance with this crook, but I
never really thought I would get scammed
by anyone in our profession. It seems those days may be over, although, I
suspect this may be just one bad apple. After my credit card was charged
and over 40 follow-up e-mails and telephone calls over more than a year, I
have never received either a refund or any files, but I did receive from
Mr. Tometich, myriad excuses, apologies and many promise that my files were
coming. When I requested shipping tracking info. he had none to give.
I hope you will forgive me using your
your time and this very valuable forum in this way, but I thought I might
warn any of you who are doing business with or contemplating business with
Online Central Fab that if you deal with cheaters, thieves and scam
artists, you too will likely get burned. I do intend to follow-up with
additional complaints to various Texas State Boards and agencies as well as
with the American Board for Certification.
Best regards and wishes to all.
